Numerical simulation of sheared foams

Résumé


In sheared liquid foams, consisting of large bubbles separated by liquid films, surfactants are believed to play a major role. To simulate these, motivated by a need to determine the key factors for developing foams that do not collapse (project funded by the Rhone Alpes region, ARC), we have a basis we use the freeware TPLS  which is a two-phase flow solver but for flows without surfactants. The resources have been used mostly for smaller (test) runs, the main runs are on Occigen (and Jade previously).
